After much research regarding builders in the Austin area we met with George and Gretchen Richards of Double R Builders, LLC. Immediately we were struck by their professionalism, knowledge and attention to detail and their know how with regards to green building and energy efficiency.

During the planning phases George and Gretchen provided us with options, advice and guidance. We spent many hours discussing the possible energy features we wanted to incorporate into the home and they listened to our specific energy concerns and came up with a plan to incorporate our ideas in our home. Their knowledge of energy efficient features and green building particularly impressed us. They also had a superb understanding of the legalities, city codes and the industry in general which proved priceless during the construction phase. The subs used by Double R Builders proved to be incredible craftsmen who completed their work in a professional and timely fashion.

George and Gretchen not only took on board our ideas but did a great deal of research to ensure the most efficient and cost effective measures were taken into account and implemented. We installed a very advanced programmable A/C system, used open cell foam to insulate the whole house and installed energy efficient windows throughout. This was all possible with the expertise of George and Gretchen. We also installed extra wiring throughout the home which will allow us to install an efficient lighting control system in the future and we are also planning to heat our water with solar. All the features that we incorporated into the home have given it a superb feel and have allowed us to achieve instant savings on our utility bills. We have a home of tomorrow today!

Ultimately George and Gretchen Richards not only built us an awesome house with amazing flow, structure and exceptional energy efficiency….they also made this incredible house into a home. For that we shall never be able to thank them enough.
